Had a 3N4D Silk route trip with Himalayan Destination during end October ’18. Great homestays, good food, homely service. The agency customised our tour on a pretty reasonable price. Growing up very neer to the foothills of the himalaya, the pick of Mt. Kanchanjunga has never been a stranger sight, but I assure you the view of the mighty pick on a crystal clear morning from the Mangkhim homestay balcony, which basically is the famous Mankhim top, will take your breath away. The afternoon clouds of Zulukh, the evening drizzle, the chill of 1°-2°C at night during this time of the year is tolerable yet thrilling. You’ll get mesmerized by the fall colours of the late autumn. After you cross the thambi view-point, the 11,200 ft altitude mark, the oranges, the yellows, the reds, the shabby greens of the mountains and the deep blue skies with bright white clouds down below you is a real treat to the eyes. If you’re lucky like us you may even find light snow at Kupuk and Gnathang. While coming down the hill, the stay at Phadamchen is more of a relaxation that your body will need. Friendly innkeepers of the homestay shall add warmth to the evening tea. Overall it was a trip to remember. If you’re planning a trip to the Sikkim Silk Route with your family like we did, it is advisable to book through any good travel service provider unless you have enough experice of Sikkim. Himalayan Destination is the “go to guy” especially for The Silk Route.
